What is a text privacy scanner?

A text privacy scanner reads through a block of text and flags anything that looks like personal or financial information — the kind of detail that's easy to miss when you're pasting a support ticket, cleaning up a document, or copying a chat log before sharing it publicly. This tool only looks at text you paste in; it doesn't scan images, PDFs, or video.

What kinds of information does it catch?

It checks for email addresses (including ones spelled out like "name at example dot com" to dodge scanners), phone numbers (even fake-looking or unusually formatted ones), URLs, IP addresses, credit card numbers (validated with a checksum so random digit strings don't get flagged), dates, street addresses, ID and license-style codes, IBAN bank numbers, crypto wallet addresses, API keys and access tokens, and MAC addresses.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The scan runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — the text never leaves your device or gets sent to a server. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.

What it won't catch

It can't reliably detect names on their own, government ID numbers that don't follow a fixed format, or phone numbers written without any area or country code. It's a helpful second pair of eyes, not a substitute for reading the text yourself before you share it.
