About the Screenshot Redactor

Drop in a screenshot, draw boxes or ellipses over anything sensitive — names, emails, account numbers, chat messages — and export a clean copy. Choose a solid block, blur or pixelate style depending on how thoroughly you want the content hidden. Everything runs locally in your browser, so the original image is never uploaded anywhere.

Is the redaction permanent?

Yes. Once you download the image, the redacted areas are baked into the pixels — there's no hidden layer to peel back or undo.

Blur vs. pixelate vs. block — which is safest?

Block is the safest choice since it fully replaces the area. Blur and pixelate can sometimes be partially reversed with enough effort, so use them for light obscuring, not hard secrets.

Does it check for things I might have missed?

Yes — it scans the image for likely sensitive text and lists suggestions you can redact with one click, in addition to drawing your own.
