Compression level

Compression re-renders each page as an image, so it works best on scanned or image-heavy PDFs. Text in the compressed file will no longer be selectable or searchable.

    About this PDF compressor

This tool reduces PDF file size by re-rendering each page as a compressed image, entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded, so it's safe for contracts, IDs and other private documents. Pick a preset or fine-tune image resolution and quality, compress several files at once, and download them individually or as a ZIP.

    Tips for better results

    • Scanned and photo-heavy PDFs shrink the most. Text-only PDFs may not get much smaller.
    • Start with Balanced. Use Smallest Size for email limits, Best Quality for anything you'll print.
    • For on-screen reading, 100–150 DPI is usually enough. Use 200+ DPI for print.
    • Keep your original. Compressed pages are images, so text can't be selected or searched.

    Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs locally on your device, and your files never leave your browser.

Why is my compressed PDF not searchable?

Each page is converted to an image to reduce its size, which removes the text layer. If you need searchable text, keep the original or run OCR afterwards.

    What are the file limits?

Up to 50 MB per file, 10 files at a time, and 150 MB in total.
