About this JSON compare tool
This tool compares two JSON documents and lists every difference as a path, so you can see exactly what was added, removed or changed. It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you paste is uploaded or stored.
Path-based results
Each difference is shown with its location, such as
user.address.city or items[2].price,
alongside the old and new values.
Key order is ignored
Objects are compared by key name, so
{"a":1,"b":2} and {"b":2,"a":1} match.
Array order option
Arrays are compared position by position. Tick the checkbox to sort arrays first when their order doesn't matter.
Frequently asked questions
Is my JSON sent to a server?
No. The comparison happens locally in your browser.
Why does one inserted array item show many changes?
Without the ignore-order option, arrays are matched by index, so inserting an item near the start shifts every item after it. Enable the option if the order isn't meaningful.
Why is my JSON reported as invalid?
Common causes are trailing commas, single quotes, unquoted keys or comments. The error message says which box has the problem.
