About Focus Writer
Focus Writer is a plain-text writing space built for getting words down without the usual friction of a full word processor. There's no formatting toolbar, no menus to configure, no account — just a page, a few quiet controls, and your draft saved automatically to this browser as you type.
Typewriter scrolling
Keeps the line you're writing anchored in the same spot on screen, so the page scrolls up to meet you instead of your eyes drifting down the screen.
Focus lines
Dims every paragraph except the one you're currently writing, so earlier lines stop pulling your attention while you finish a thought.
Distraction-free view
Clears the site header, toolbar and everything else off the screen, leaving only your text. Move your mouse to the top of the page or press Esc to bring the tools back.
Tips
- Your draft autosaves to this browser every time you pause typing — reload the page and it's still there.
- Use Focus lines and Typewriter together for the calmest possible writing view.
- Export to .txt or .md before clearing your draft or switching browsers — autosave only lives on this device.
