Favicon Checker
Enter any website URL to check if it has a favicon, discover legacy fallbacks, and test how it looks in browser tabs.
About this favicon checker
A favicon is the small icon shown in a browser tab, bookmark
bar or search result next to your site's name. This tool
checks the most common places a site stores that icon — the
root /favicon.ico, the Apple touch icon, and the
standard 32×32 and 16×16 PNGs — and shows you which ones
actually load.
Direct file checks
Each request goes straight to the domain, so "found" means the file genuinely exists there — not that a third party has it cached.
Tab preview
See how the detected icon looks in a light and dark browser tab before deciding it's ready to ship.
Google proxy reference
Google's favicon service is shown for comparison only — it can return a cached or generic icon even when the site has none.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the Google result show an icon when nothing else did?
Google caches favicons separately and sometimes falls back to a generic globe icon, so a hit there doesn't confirm the site actually hosts one.
Why is favicon.ico failing on my own site?
Make sure the file sits at the domain root, returns a 200 status, and isn't blocked by a redirect or robots rule.
Do I need all four favicon formats?
No. A single favicon.ico covers most browsers, but adding the PNG sizes and an Apple touch icon improves how your site looks on mobile home screens and modern tabs.
